Guidelines for Abstract Submission

Acceptance: After a double-blind peer review, Abstract will be accepted (oral/poster) or rejected. The review by the scientific committee based on the originality/novelty, significance of research findings and relevance to the main themes and sub-themes will be assigned to appropriate sessions either for oral or poster presentations. Participants should indicate their preference of presentation type (oral or poster).

Abstract Format: All abstracts must be written in English with the following format:

Title of paper (First Letter of Each Main Word Capitalized)
Content should be one paragraph between 200-300 words. It should include: Purpose/Objective of study, Methods (Participants, Instrumentation, Procedures), Results and Conclusion.
Abstract should not contain abbreviations and/or references.
Keywords should be between 4-6 words and should be clearly stated in italic at the bottom of the abstract.

Presentation: Accepted abstracts are given either a 15-minute slot for an oral presentation or assigned to present at a Poster Session. Authors which have been selected for an oral presentation may however opt for a Poster Session instead.

Abstract's Outcome Notification

The Conference Secretariat will promptly notify the outcome of the submitted abstract to the submitting author via email from 1st April 2024 onward (the reviewing process usually take about 2 weeks). The type and date of the presentation will be informed. Further details regarding the specific session, time, and venue of the presentation will be provided as the conference date draws nearer.

For abstracts that are acceptance with conditions, which required revision as recommended by the reviewers, the author is required to amend the abstract accordingly and resubmit the revised abstract via the abstract submission portal within 10 days from the date of receiving the email notification. Failure to comply with this deadline will result in the rejection of the abstract.

Abstracts submitted before completing the full payment of conference registration fee are eligible for an offer of acceptance. However, the final acceptance requires the presenting author to make the full payment by 18 Aug 2024. Otherwise, the accepted abstract will be automatically rejected.

Things to check before your presentation:

Online registration and payment: The primary (first) author, as well as the corresponding author and speaker of an abstract, should complete online registration (https://www.askannualmeeting.org/sub03/sub03_02.php) and pay the registration fee before the deadline.

Online registration is very important. If you don’t complete online registration, all things including your nametag, conference schedule, abstract book and souvenir may not be prepared for you.
If any primary (first) author, corresponding author, or speaker of an abstract doesn’t pay his/her registration fee, the abstract will be excluded from the Abstract Book and won’t be presented at the conference.

Other checkpoints: When preparing your presentation, you should check ‘My participation lists’ at the top of this website. You should check if there is any typo in your abstract, in particular, related to the name and affiliation of authors.

Please note that the final specifications will be checked, and files not compliant may not be uploaded.

Preparing and submitting your poster

Overview:

Poster sessions at ACKSS2024 are thematic; posters will be on display to allow attendees to review and discuss with presenters. Each presenter will be given 7-8 minutes to present their research to session attendees. Attendees will be given 2-3 minutes to ask each presenter questions about their research.

Poster specification:

Participants are requested to prepare a printed poster summarizing the key issues.
The size of a poster allowed is A0 (height: 120 cm, width: 90 cm).
Please select a proper font type and size, so that your poster can be easily read.
Poster writing in English

ABSTRACT- include the abstract submitted to ACKSS2024 in the upper left corner of your poster.
INTRODUCTION- briefly summarize the background that led to your research, clearly identify the purpose, and identify research questions and/or hypotheses tested.
METHODS- describe the experimental design employed to collect data, including number and necessary demographics of the human or animal subjects studied.
RESULTS- presented by table, figure, illustration and/or photograph. Each graphic should stand on its own, so the viewer does not have to refer elsewhere for interpretation.
CONCLUSION- describe the major findings of your work and their meaning to the field.
ACKNOWLEDGMENT (if applicable)- identify funding source(s), institutional support, individuals who have contributed significantly but who are not listed as authors, etc.
The title, author(s) and institution are to be prominently displayed across the top border with lettering height between 1 and 2 inches (2.5 to 5.0 cm).
Use large and dark lettering throughout (such as Times 18-point font style)
Keep tables and figures simple
Use strong visual contrast. Consider color combinations/backgrounds
Graphs and charts should have labelled axes and a suitable scale; · Figures and graphics should be of high quality and adequately labelled with brief legends.

During your poster presentation:

Please arrive to your block session 10 minutes before the start of the first presentation to display your poster.
All presenters must check in with your session moderator upon arrival to the scheduled session. Please ask the moderator of your session for assistance finding your display board. Your moderator will also be able to answer any questions that you have about your session.
Presentation etiquette dictates that all presenters in a block session remain present before and after their presentations. Please do not leave the room before the block session has concluded. During other presentations, please remain respectful and attentive.
All presenters must remove their posters at the conclusion of the block session. ACKSS2024 is not responsible for lost or damaged posters.

By submitting the abstract, the author accept responsibility for its accuracy and acknowledge that amendments are not allowed post-submission. The provided information will be published as submitted.
All co-authors must be aware of and consent to the abstract’s content and data before submission. The correspondent author serves as the contact person for all correspondence and is responsible for sharing status updates with co-authors.
Submission implies consent to publish the abstract in all conference materials, including the website and e-abstract book. Authors are responsible for obtaining any required copyright permissions related to prior presentations, equipment, or other materials.
Authors must obtain relevant regulatory authority permissions and appropriate consent.
Authors must ensure the originality of their work and avoid infringing upon any copyrights or personal rights.
Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest, such as financial interests or advisory board memberships.
